The Robert E. Lee Boyhood Home Virtual Museum

Lee-Jackson Foundation Essay Scholarships

The Lee-Jackson Foundation, founded by the late J. W. Johns, owned and operated the Boyhood Home of Robert E. Lee as a museum from 1967 until sale of the home on March 3, 2000. The Foundation no longer has any connection with this site. The sale of the home reflects an altered focus toward civic education. To that end, the Lee-Jackson Foundation is offering scholarships to deserving Virginia High School students (public, private or home schooled). This year, one $10,000, eight $2,000, and eighteen $1,000 college scholarships are available to Virginia high school juniors and seniors submitting outstanding essays on the career, character, or some other aspect of the life of either General Robert E. Lee or General "Stonewall" Jackson, or both.

To learn more about this program go to Lee-Jackson Scholarships or your school guidance counselor. The deadline for completion of essays and submission to principals is generally in mid-December. For additional information write the Foundation Admistrator at:
