Anne Randolph Fitzhugh
Anne Bolling Randolph Fitzhugh
(1747 -1805)

Portrait is a commissioned copy of a John Hesselius original.

"Nancy" was the daughter of Peter Randolph and his wife, Lucy Bolling. She was a gracious hostess. Indeed, George Washington's diary mentions the hospitality of Mrs. Fitzhugh. The Fitzhughs had six children. Of these, only three survived to adulthood and only one, Mary Lee Fitzhugh Custis, had children. Again, only one, Mary Anne Randolph Custis Lee, survived infancy. Through her marriage to Robert E. Lee, there were seven descendants of William and Anne Fitzhugh.
